POW-WOW

Hi All,
I have just spent the entire day at a Scout Pow-Wow. I have to say I was NOT excited to go and waste my entire Saturday at a Cub Scout Leadership Training Meeting. I did anyway, but I did learn a lot. I also realized how unprepared and lame I am. I'm not one of those cool, organized leaders. We are suppose to have atleast 1 month in advance planned, if not 3 months. Then there is the Blue and Gold Banquet, Pinewood Derby, Pack Meetings, Roundtable Meetings, and Committee Meetings, and the weekly Den Meetings...ahhhh!!! My eyes are popping out of my head.
Here is a picture of my little Cub Scout, on his first day. His shirt isn't tucked and his face is dirty, but he loves Scouts. e loves that I'm a Den Leader because she gets to go to Den Meeting too, she gets to do all the fun activities, but no expectations are involved. I think s is going to grow and learn so much, he is making great friendships, and gaining leadership skills already. I think we will have fun as a family also. (I hope)

Brothers... not funny

Well today is a teacher in-service day, so s and e got to stay home and play and I had to get up and go to school without them. We played some get to know you games and learned some interesting teaching techniques. Which means nothing to me, or anyone in room 409, our kids don't know their names at this point. But it was fun to do something different for a change. Then the afternoon was going to be some boring meetings at the highschool, but they were cancelled at the last minute, yahoo!!! I got to come home early. I think I'm going to take a nap.

I jumped on the computer and read my e-mail, and received a e-mail from my brother. He thinks he's so funny, someone in the family got a funny joke, and has passed it around to the rest of us....

What gets bigger when pulled on, Fits between the boobs, Insterts neatly in a hole, and works best when jerked....

A seat belt, you prevert. BUCKLE UP and pass it on.

Well one time when I was 12 or 13, I had heard a naughty joke that I didn't understand, very simialar in nature. Well I thought the punch line was very funny, it was chewing gum. One Sunday afternoon I happened to be talking to the bishop at church and decided to tell hin the joke, but my mom wouldn't let me. She explained a few things to me on the way home that day, which at the time, I didn't believe... I do now:)
So my Brother e-mailed me today with the joke attached and said maybe I should tell the bishop. So funny he is.... I laughed and laughed... I'm NOT telling the bishop.

I'm going to try to take a nap...

My Tooth

Four years ago I had to have a root canal, the tooth had been bugging me for about 2 years at that point. I had deceided to do something about it, well the root canal didn't go to well. It was a large molar in the back, and he had to keep numbing me because I could feel it. Third time was the charm and he was able to finish and put a temporary filling in it. I had to keep going back because it just wasn't right, it kept on hurting. It was a dead tooth that still hurt...why? He said I needed to wait atleast 3 months to get a cap put on, because it needed to settle down. OK. After a while it stopped hurting, but kept being annoying because food kept getting stuck between it and the next tooth. I carry dental floss with me every where I go. About ten days ago, I ate a Skittle, yes a Skittle (1), being diabetic I'm not suppose to eat any. Anyway I ate it and it hurt my tooth a little, but I went on with my day. The next morning my tooth hurt a little when I was eating my oatmeal but I was OK. By the time school got out it was starting to irreitate me, but only when I was eating. So I called my dentist, they couldn't get me in until the 28th of Jan. That would be 3 weeks away, but I took the appointment hoping I would be OK until then. At this point it was 4pm on Friday night. That night was OK, I was being careful about what I ate and how I chewed. I turned into a pumpkin at about 10pm and went to bed, at 1am I woke up in pain, and it kept getting werse as the night went, so I hit the over the counter pain meds, that worked it in begining. By Sat. afternoon I was in serious pain, and my face was starting to swell, and over the counter meds weren't helping at all anymore. I had some better stuff from previous back injury so I started to take those, eating only when I had to so the meds wouldn't upset my stomach. I tried cold packs, hot packs, laying on one side then the other, nothing was helping and the pain was getting werse. By Sunday morning I was beside myself in pain, I hadn't slept at all, and all I could do was cry. I tried to call my dentist emergency number but got no answer at 8am, again at 10am. At that point I couldn't take it anymore so I called a friend I go to church with, she works in a dentist office (not my dentist though). Oh, by the way the right side of my face was swollen pretty good at this point. My friend P heard me out and felt I needed to be seen right away, turns out her son just gratuated dental school and opened his office just down the road from me. She called him, he was in church, but she hunted him down and they met me at his office within 20 mins. Why didn't I call sooner. Luckly T's brother spent the night that night and was here to babysit the kids for us, and T took the day off work to watch a football game, so he could take me. So I'm at the dentist and he took x-rays and discovered that my tooth was cracked, and the crack went all the way up above my gums, and the tooth was abbessed (infected). There was no saving the tooth because it had already been root canaled. By this time I just wanted to damn thing out, it hurt so bad and had been hurting for 6 years. It took an hour and a half to get the tooth out, and oh my gosh... good news I didn't have to get any stitches:) Well that was 8 days ago, the whole the tooth left is huge, and it still hurts. That is the moral of this story, it still hurts. I had to take two days off work, and have taken every pain pill they gave me, and it still hurts. It's the tooth that is haunting me from the grave. I am so tired of soft foods, jello, pudding, mashed potatoes, yogurt and applesauce, I need to branch out. Well I'm feeling a little under the weather today, because my tooth, are rather lack of tooth hurts.

There isn't school today because of Martin Luther King Jr. day, my kids are driving me crazy...MOM, Mom, mom, Mom, MOM... I just want to take a nap. e has a voice like her aunt L, it is very loud and carries well, she just can't seem to be quiet. Since T works at night he sleeps during the day, but not when she's around. All I have said all day is shhhhhhhh!!! I would take them to a park or something but it's 20 degrees outside.

Well I've whinned enough for now... blog ya later.

a little update

Here is our most recent family picture. It was taken on Thanksgiving Day 2007. I love this picture, I just wish that there wasn't so much of me in it. Most of you probally got the picture with a Christmas Card, (if I had your address).

s is 8 now, how I can't believe he's so old. It makes me feel old to be the parent of a second grader, he is so smart. He was just tested and got into the gifted and talented program (GT) at school, he is bored and sometimes getting off task. His teacher understands him, and is more than willing to put up with him and keep him challenaged, but not get to far ahead of his class. The GT program should help him explore some new things, they do alot of science things that the schools can't do in a normal classroom. He is so excited, mostly because he'll get to go on a lot of field trips and miss some normal class time. He has discovered the love of reading, he'll even read to e for me. She can't wait until she can read as good as him. Being only in Kindergarten she's not very good yet. She has been working on high frequency words, and learning more and more everyday. As of now, she pretends to read at bedtime while s and I are reading. She loves her class and her teacher, I work and the school where they go, so I see them often throughout the day, it's kind of fun.

I work in the Extended Resources Room at their school. We have nine students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Five are in wheelchairs 2 with down's syndrome and various other disablities. Everyday there is an adventure. I'm sure I'll have many interesting stories to come from room 409. I really feel like I am making a difference in the world working with these kids. What I do matters to them, and we are learning life skills on a daily basis.

As I'm writing this T is yelling at the TV, Greenbay Packers are playing. He's not going to be in a very good mood if they don't win. He's never really been a sports watcher until now, because "his team" is in the play-offs. He even took a few hours off work, crazy, for football? He works very hard and plays very hard, I'm very thankful for him and all he does for us. I just wish he'd be less vocal about it.

Well I've ranted enough for today, blog ya later...
